Affiliate Committees
Our Board of Directors are responsible for the overall direction of the Komen Milwaukee
Affiliate. There are active committees within the Board that welcome volunteers.
An ongoing, year-round commitment is requested.

Education Committee:
Coordinates presentations and speakers bureau and oversees dissemination of Komen
educational materials. We have an informational sesssion

Grants Committee:
Administers grants program for the Affiliate

Marketing/Public Relations Committee:
Works to increase awareness of Komen Milwaukee and its events, including the Race
for the Cure®, and coordinates media contacts, advertising and PSAs as well
as website development and maintenance

Volunteer Committee:
Oversees the development and maintenance of the volunteer database, recruitment,
communications, placement and training
Special Events
Komen Milwaukee Race for the Cure®
This is our signature fundraising event. Planning for the next year's Race will
begin upon the conclusion of this year's event. Volunteer opportunities are many
and varied. Literally hundreds of volunteers are needed to make the Race a reality.
All levels of volunteer time and commitment are appreciated.

Committee Chairs plan and implement components of the Race. Chairs attend
Race Committee meetings as needed. Key Race committee Chairs include Marketing/Public
Relations, Operations, Planning & Finance, Race Course, Sponsors, Survivors,
and Volunteers.
Committee Members carry out the goals and objectives of the committee and
attend meetings of their committee as needed.
Pre-Race Volunteers help in the weeks prior to the Race with tasks such as
entry form distribution, pre-registration, team packet assembly & distribution
and data entry. May be a one-time commitment or multiple.
Race Day Volunteers help on Race day with registration, set-up and tear-down,
Sponsor expo tent, and other activities. Volunteering on Race day is a great entry
point to involvement with the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate.
Participant/Team Member The Race for the Cure truly is an inspiring event.
You can either attend the Race as an individual, or even better, please gather friends,
family and/or work associates and participate as a Team.
Bowl for the Cure®
This is a year-round fund-raising and breast cancer awareness initiative by the
United States Bowling Congress in partnership with Komen for the Cure.
Planning Committee members work with the USBC to ensure that the event is
a success.
Bowlers are needed the day of the event. The requested time commitment is
approximately three hours. This is a really fun event where bowling expertise is
NOT expected.
Other Events
The Komen Milwaukee Affiliate participates in other events and will be developing
more. Volunteers are needed, so please let us know if you're interested in helping.
Special Interests/Skills & General Help
Volunteer opportunities in such areas as clerical, database, design, photography
and more are needed by a variety of committees or programs across the Affiliate.
Time commitment may be ongoing or on a one-time-only basis.
