FAQs about Affiliate Grant Making

How do I know if my organization can apply?

Applicants must be a US nonprofit (federally tax-exempt) organization, e.g. nonprofit 501(c) 3 organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, or Indian tribes.

Can I submit more than one proposal?

An organization can submit applications for more than one project, if projects have independent program goals and measurable objectives.

Can I use the grant funds for salaries?

Salaries, if requested, are for personnel related to this project only and not the general work of employee. The affiliate strongly encourages applying organization to match a portion of the salaries requested.

Do we really need to follow the page limits for the application?

Absolutely! Please follow all directions – our community review panel will thank you!

How do we get the grant funds and what are the requirements?

One half of grant funds are distributed after a fully executed contract. Each grantee receives the remaining balance contingent upon the receipt of two successful progress reports, and a depletion of the first installment of funds.

It is the end of the grant period and we have not spent all of our funding, can we roll it over to the next year?

The affiliate’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever is a very serious and urgent promise and there is a tremendous need for breast health and/or breast cancer services within our service area. Therefore, we strongly encourage organizations to spend their funding in accordance with the approved grant proposal within the grant period. If an organization finds itself with remaining funds at the end of the grant period, an organization must return the unused grant funds.

Can our organization appeal a grant decision?

No, all grant making decisions are final. After being denied, all applicant organizations are welcome to reapply for a grant during the following year’s grant making cycle.
