Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.
Whether you are a golfer, a bowler, a chef or a runner, you can contribute to the fight against breast cancer 365 days a year. By participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® or another Komen event, you become part of a grassroots network that has changed the way the world talks about and treats breast cancer. You can make a difference as you celebrate survivorship, honor those who have lost their battle, and most importantly, raise funds and awareness for the fight against this life-threatening disease. There are many different ways to support Komen's mission.
We offer a variety of events, from bowling to cooking to golfing and driving, in an effort to raise money for and awareness of our battle against breast cancer. There are opportunities to join the fight where you live, work and play.

The Bucks Bowl for the Cure will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010. The cost is $30 per bowler, and all bowlers will receive a 2010 Bowl for the Cure t-shirt, gift bag, and two upper level Bucks tickets to the Bowl for the Cure night on 3/3/10. A portion of the proceeds from their online, retail, and fundraising sales will benefit the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate. In addition to supporting the Komen Race for the Cure, Yoplait will celebrate their 11th year in hosting the highly successful Save Lids to Save Lives® program, which takes place during September and October. For each pink lid mailed in by customers, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Komen with a guaranteed donation of $500,000 up $1.5 million. Consumers will be asked to save their pink Yoplait lids and send them in by December 31, 2009. Andy Koehn of West Bend, WI, wrote and published “Some Days…” in April of 2007 after his wife, Laura, was diagnosed with breast cancer. The book, initially written for their four children, carries a strong message that is applicable to all different walks of life. Andy will be donating ½ of the proceeds from his book sales to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate now through October 2009. Passionately Pink for the Cure is a fundraising and awareness program. It’s a simple but effective way for groups around the country to show their support for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
In just three years, Passionately Pink has raised more than $11 million to fund breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment programs, with more than $2.5 million going to participating Affiliates. We hope to raise $4.5 million in 2009 and have increased the Affiliates’ share to 75 percent of funds raised!
Anyone can participate in Passionately Pink for the Cure! Groups pick a day (or days), anytime throughout the year, to wear pink and make a donation to Komen for the Cure. Recruit companies, religious or social groups, schools, clubs, friends and family to go Passionately Pink for the Cure® and have them register at

Registered groups receive a participation kit that includes posters to promote their day, breast health information and Passionately Pink for the Cure pins for participants to wear to show their support for the cure.Rally for the Cure is a grassroots program designed to spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer through volunteered organized golf, tennis and social events.
